Summer is in full swing and so is the heat in New England. July and August are the hottest months of the year. So drinking water is extra important this time of year. If you don’t enjoy the taste of water it can be hard to drink enough throughout the day. Good news, drinking a variety of beverages can increase your total water intake.
Infused water has become more popular over the last few years. Here are a few tips to help you try this cool and delicious trend.
- Be sure to use clean produce.
- Protect yourself from foodborne illness by choosing produce with a rind or peel. Always wash fruits, vegetables, and herbs before use.
- No infuser bottle? No problem.
- Try using Mason jars or regular pitchers to store your flavored water.
- Try freezing your infusions into ice cubes. Then add them to the water bottle you use everyday.
- Try a variety of flavor combinations.
- Consider herbs and spices such as basil, rosemary, mint, thyme, or anise. Even flowers like rose, hibiscus, and lavendar pair well with fresh fruit.
